James - Guitar
James has been playing Guitar for 20 years, and for 9 years as a professional touring artist for Metal quintet - Oceans Ate Alaska. His influences lie with anything Tom Morello and modern Tech Metal. To add to this, James has always had an interest in learning multiple genres which has meant he is capable of making sure the student covers a lot of ground musically. Theory, technique and composition, amongst many other aspects can be made easily digestible during your lesson with James, but most of all, he will help you enjoy ripping some riffs you can show off to your friends!
MARTYN-Guitar/BASS/Ukulele
Martyn is one of our most senior and experienced teachers with over 25 years of playing and 20 years of teaching at our Tuition Centre. He specialises in Rock and Metal and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of guitars, amplifiers and pedals. He has been teaching the Rock School syllabus for the past 12 years and all students have attained a 100% pass rate.
nathan - guitar/Ukulele
Nathan is one of newest yet most popular tutors. With over 10 years of playing experience behind him even at such a young age, he’s the perfect tutor to get youngsters interested in playing guitar! He has a keen interest in Rock and Funk and has been regularly gigging around Birmingham since he was just 16.
With a Diploma in music, a Degree in Music Performance and a Level 6 Professional Diploma in Teaching, Nathan will confidently teach you up to and beyond Grade 8 Guitar, and offer you all the advice you need along the way with your exams. He is also able to teach the Rockschool Ukulele Syllabus!
Jack - Guitar/bass
Jack has been playing for the past 20 years, and during that time has completed a grade 8 in guitar whilst in college, then more recently gained Masters in music. Within this, Jack has studied a whole range of genres from Rock to R&B and Hip Hop, but his main interest lies with Jazz and Jazz Fusion, with inspiration coming from bands such as Hiatus Kaiyote and Snarky Puppy. Jack is confident in teaching all levels of guitar in both electric and acoustic, even post grade 8 and also teaches bass guitar!
SAM- Bass Guitar - Books closed
Sam is a talented multi instrumentalist who specialises in bass. He is our dedicated bass teacher having a triple distinction BTEC Grade 8 Rock School and over 13 years teaching experience under his belt. His favourite playing styles are soul funk and R&B but will happily teach any style of playing. Outside of teaching Sam performs locally with our drum tutor Shona as The Bop Shop band. www.facebook.com/thebopshopband
JACK - GUITAR
Jack has over 10 years of guitar experience, two of which he spent performing across the country with his band at the time, playing venues such as the Cavern Club! During this time he achieved Rockschool Grade 8 in guitar, a Distinction in his songwriting Extended level 3 Diploma and in 2021 performed guitar on the 'Mind Your Head' campaign for Yellow Wellies / Farm Safety Foundation. He has a love for all genres and styles of music, and is currently working as a freelance composer for various mediums including film alongside tuition. Whether you are looking to learn for fun or make your way through the grades, Jack has the knowledge to help you on your guitar journey!
